The World’s Top 500 Airports is the leading guide on the subject. It contains a brief history of each airport, details of runways and terminals, annual passenger numbers and aircraft movements. For the Top 250’ airports there is a map, details of the main user airlines, and details of whether traffic is scheduled, chartered, passenger or freight. If your kids wants to be a pilot, this books is the coolest thing.I bet you didnt know which airport was the busiest in the world.
Chicago? New York? London? Dallas? Not even close to the number.
So if you find that interesting, the book is for you. PS. it's Atlanta.
It also explains historical facts about airports. Very cool!

The World Top 500 Airports David Wragg 9781844256327 Books Reviews
I enjoyed the information in the appendices and also the brief histories of the airports. I did find the drawings very small and hard to read in many cases. It would also have been helpful to have expanded the drawings to show actual accesses to the airports from local highways. More aerial photos of some of the major airports would also have been appreciated.
While this book is written fairly decently, I found too many simple errors to be taken likely. Why is Guadalupe listed as a country but Martinique is listed as a French department? They are both French Overseas Department. The same classification as Reunion and Tahiti! Honolulu was omitted. Honolulu handles over 15 Million pas. per annum. Dusseldorf lost 10 Million passengers. A lot of the histories seemed very vague. Often Mr. Wragg seemed more concerned with the accident history of a airport than the actual history of the airport. I am sorry but "500 Airports" pails to John Strouds "Airports of World" written over 25 years ago. But it is worth the buy, if you want a light history of one of the airports covered.
It's a good book I was just expecting more illustrations of these great airports. Was disappointed to not see any photographs of LAX or JFK.
This book has nice diagrams and images. It is a valulable and informative reference book.
this is a great book on airports, gives you all the information you would ever need, and also covers the history, whether good or bad, very happy I bought it.
David Wragg has done an excellent job. Each entry has enough information and statistics to keep the reader interested. It is a great addition to my library which includes over 80 books about aviation. It has quickly become one of my favorites. For two reasons I gave a 4-star rating. The first reason is the detailed airport layout plans are hard to read because they are too small. A separate appendix should have been included with full page layouts. I know this would have increased the size of the book considerably, and of course its price. The second reason is each entry should have included a website address so the reader would have had link access to the airports listed in the book. For airport enthusiasts, this book is a must have.
This is certainly interesting to an aviation enthusiast, as it details every airport from the U.S. to Bangladesh, though it is quite technical and offers only a few actual pics of the airports themselves-something I was hoping there would be more of. The small bits of history regarding each airport are welcome yet it leaves too much out for the layperson. Better suited for a proffessional flier.
If your kids wants to be a pilot, this books is the coolest thing.
