My head is severely pounding! I stayed up until 2am this morning to finish reading this book. I was so hooked from book 1 and then book 2 so I finally decided to just to get the whole series so I could read it in one sitting.

The way the book is written made it seem like Emily and Paul are real people who are going through this crisis. Heck it could be a book based on a true story. It drew me in and kept me there because I needed to find out what was going to happen to Emily. Through her esteem issues, her illness, and her love for Paul, I could see myslef in her shoes.

I did feel, however, that the characteristices that Emily and Paul portrayed were off kilter for a 17 and 23 year old. They were way too mature for their age and the book would have had a better feeling if they had been older. In this era people at that age feel a sense of entitlement and sick or not, for the most part, other young adults behavior is not what Emily and Paul portrayed in this book. There was also WAY too many scenes which involved masturbation, I could have done without several of those, so I had to skim over those parts.

All in all the book hooked me because of Emily. She was a character with strength and will, and for just a moment I wanted to be an Emily. (If you read the book you will understand what I just wrote)

Listed Noelle Adams 9781481944830 Books Reviews

I've read stories by this author under Claire Kent. I really enjoyed those, so thought I would try some by this name. I like Claire Kent better. What I loved about Listed
1) The poignancy. This is a tough topic. There were a number of scenes that I choked up reading.
2) The characterization of the heroine. Emily, is 17. She's strong, but not perfect and she has moments where she breaks down in tears. That said, she owns up to her mistakes, apologizes, and is remarkably mature with her communication. I was rooting for her!

What I didn't like
1) The editing. There were enough typos that by the end of the story, it was getting annoying.
2) The length. The middle dragged. While I appreciated that Emily wasn't strong, I think at least 2 of her crying jags could have been cut. Again, I think an editor could have helped by tightening the plot. I found myself skimming.
3) The love scenes. The first one was the best one. After that, they got progressively more mediocre. Ms. Adams does a better job writing as Claire Kent with those.
4) The plot holes. First, there wasn't enough information about Paul's dad. Paul feels one way about him and Emily feels another, but their opinions were just stated without any actions or facts to back them up or let the reader decide whose perception is the more accurate one. Second, and most importantly, there was not nearly enough explanation of the virus. Doctors couldn't tell Emily how she contracted it, but Paul wasn't worried even a little bit about getting it. Uh...That was really jarring, especially during intimate moments. As a reader, I couldn't get into it because I was worried for him! This is not a spoiler, because you know this couple gets an HEA - but the virus's cure is also not explained AT ALL! One minor secondary character prays for Emily, her doctor gives her yet another treatment, and then she's magically cured?!? It was so anticlimactic and SUCH a letdown. That knocked off a whole star for me.
5) Here's the big one The hero's characterization. Paul is a super nice guy but he spends half the book masturbating so he doesn't bother Emily while she's sick. Not cool. This was honestly so NOT hero behavior, I can't even tell you how much it bothered me. Once or twice I could have handled - he's human - but it happened so often that I felt it was both toeing the creepy line and showing that he was not actually hero material. He didn't even try to make a move on Emily, he just made the decision for her and then went into the shower to take care of business. Ms. Adams would have been better off killing his libido altogether.

So, my final verdict is It's a good, decent read. I was emotionally invested in the outcome and finished it in one day. The age difference was believable and I loved how easy the two were together. However, I won't re-read it. A solid 3.5.
If I could I would give this book 10 stars. I laughed and truly cried at several points in this story. Trust me, this story is well-worth your time and money.
Noelle Adams really knows how to develop her characters so that they are fully lovable, fully hateable, fully sexy, fully disgusting and fully amazing. I was hooked on this series by the conclusion of chapter 1 and didn't catch my breath until the end of the Epilogue.

At the age of 12 Emily created a life list (a bucket list) of things she wanted to do before she dies as this story go forward, we see Paul and Emily (now 17 and emancipated) conquer the list, why you ask because Emily is dying, she is given 3 months. Emily contracts a virus that the doctors don't know how to cure and Emily's #1 item on the list is "get married" so she proposes to Paul and he accepts.

Paul and Emily have known each other from their Philadelphia neighbor all their lives and thought they knew each other. But Paul's father is a crime boss and one night Emily happens to over hear a conversation and suddenly is brought into Paul's world even more. She is now the only witness that can testify against Paul's father. Paul is afraid that Emily will never make it to the trial before his father kills her because of the virus that she has contracted and Paul is convinced that his father is the one that made sure Emily contracted the virus.

Most of the story (books 1 - 6) are spent with the adventures of conquering The List. Their budding romance (the first time they make love is so wonderfully lovely) and the reoccurring fevers from the virus that are getting worse with each occurrence and time. Once Paul's father is in jail and out of the picture, Paul turns more attention to curing the virus and his job with his Mother's family business. In the midst of trying to find a cure, he realizes that he is love with Emily and that he doesn't know what will happen to him once Emily is gone. To Emily's horror, she realizes that she not only loves Paul but that Paul loves her. She didn't want this to happen knowing that when she is dead what will Paul do, he will be alone.

I will not spoil the ending but trust me, you will not be sorry that you read this series, it is full of wonderful characters, well-developed and deeply felt. I have never cried before when reading a story but in this book, I found myself crying several times and laughing and gasping.
