Can February get any worse for Lori Shepherd? While her husband enjoys the sunny warmth of Majorca, Lori finds herself snowbound with a pair of rambunctious boys who want nothing more than to get out of the house for a ride on their ponies, Thunder and Storm. With the riding school closed for repairs, Lori is desperately hoping for a break in the cold or an answer to her boys' restless spirits. Enter Bree Pym, the teenage niece of Lori's late favorite neighbors. Restless herself, Bree is in need of housing and eager to help Lori with the boys. Her solution, a trip to nearby Skeaping Manor, which houses a bizarre assortment of oddities, seems the perfect answer to Lori's problems. Little do the two women realize, however, that they've just set themselves up for a very strange encounter followed by a desperate search for a lost Russian prince, held captive for his fortune in one of the manor houses that dot the Cotswold countryside. Will Lori and Bree, set on the chase by an unusual little girl, really rescue a prince? It seems unlikely, but when friends from the past speak through books and stuffed bunnies know the cure for heartache, anything can happen!!

A sweet tale, just as one expects from Nancy Atherton. Lori is as headstrong as ever, but balanced by Bree's teenage enthusiasm and Aunt Dimity's calm wisdom, the three make an entertaining trio. The plot is, as usual, a bit unbelievable at first (a Russian prince? in a basement dungeon?), but when the conclusion comes, all becomes completely clear and realistic. With a bit of romance and a dash of humor, Atherton comes through once again with a charming read that is perfect for a blustery February day!

Aunt Dimity and the Lost Prince Aunt Dimity Mystery Nancy Atherton 9780670026685 Books Reviews

The latest in the 'Aunt Dimity' series continues to be very, very enjoyable reading. While I highly encourage new readers to try and start from the beginning, the author does a good job of describing the characters and their backgrounds. And while I would like to see more of the other characters, focusing almost exclusively on Lori and Bree (and Aunt Dimity) allows for more plot and more characterization of those characters. I was kept entertained through the very end. Highly recommended!
Not as entertaining as the last two in the series. A little girl with a vivid imagination hears stories which she elaborates. When Lori Shepherd realizes that some of the girl's stories are indeed true, she wonders about her story about the lost prince who is imprisoned. The little girl is such a charming character, but present only at the beginning. I wish shel had more of a presence in the solving of the mystery.
A different take on a story of a lost Russian royal. The book will catch you at once and lead you into drama, friendship, love, and mystery. I am always delighted with the different approaches that Ms. Atherton takes in developing her plots. This will make you a true fan of her writing, If you are not already a loyal follower.
The latest by Nancy Atherton in the Aunt Dimity series. A series of mishaps come upon Lori Shepard & the residents of Finch (the little village in England where she, her husband, Bill, & twin sons live). True to form, Aunt Dimity - in her mysterious way - help Lori focus on the important details and share her thoughts on this latest mystery. If you're a "true" mystery fan, this might be a little on the "light" side for you, but I enjoy a good story that won't give me nightmares! A must read for Nancy Atherton/Aunt Dimity fans alike. You won't be disappointed!
The entire Aunt Dimity series is great! This one is no exception....you'd think they'd not be as good as the first one, but I think they get better with each book. If you can, start at the beginning book and read each and every one. They stand alone just fine but if you want a real treat start at book #1 and get them all! Nancy Atherton is a superb writer and you find yourself reading the entire book in one sitting no matter how hard you try and make them last as you want to enjoy every word again and again! The characters are so real and you find yourself transported to each setting. Don't miss out as these books are all WINNERS!
This series is always a joy to read. A real British cozy mystery novel. Not any murder victims but other real mysteries. This eighteenth novel has Lori Shepard, and friend, Bree Pym searching for a missing family and trying to rescue a Russian Prince.

A wee child tells Lori about the holding of this Prince, against his will, in a dungeon in a manor house near Finch. Lori thought it was a dream story until she finds physical evidence that the imaginative child bases her stories upon reality.

Off we go with Lori and Bree as they travel from astounding house to house to seek and save the Prince. Threaded throughout is a recipe that is treasured and shared with the readers.

This book is a cozy. Pure fun reading and took me about four hours to devour it. Now to wait for the next story. It is like reading a bedtime story to yourself.

I adore this series. Thank You, Ms. Atherton.
I started reading this series when I picked up my first novel at a used book sale. I fell in love with Aunt Dimity and the story of Lori Shepard and how she came to be in England in the Cotswolds and all of her adventures. While Aunt Dimity has tended to take a bit of a back seat in recent previous novels, she is much more of a presence in this one. For this fact, I say three cheers! Without Aunt Dimity, the stories just do not come to life life they should. However, in this novel, Lori's friend Bree Pym does add some spark and joy to the hunt for the "lost prince." What I really like about these stories is that there is no offensive language, the mysteries are just that, they are mysteries that hold your interest and usually have everyday life events that turn out to be the answers to the puzzles. One hardly ever figures out exactly what is going on until near the end which is the mark of a good story teller. I hope Nancy Atherton and Aunt Dimity "live" a long life and bring many more stories to their readers. This book is not to be missed.
